John William Weicher, 77, of Burlington, died at 5:15 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born August 9, 1942, in Burlington, he was the son of Herman Herbert and Kathryn Mae Murphy Weicher. On November 16, 1963, he married Karen Kay Tansey in St. Paul's Catholic Church Burlington, IA. She passed on January 30, 2018.
John began his career as a barber, which is how he met his wife Karen. He later worked for IAAP in Middletown, and was a foreman at Husky Built prior to working as a forklift driver for Exide for 19 years.
John would like all to know, his work here is done. Though we are devastated to see him go, he had a better job offer from a woman who has always been the boss. A couple of the positions perks are full retirement benefits, and a reunion with his soul mate.
John was of Catholic faith. He was a 20 year member and past president of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching softball and basketball, golfing, and spending time with his family. He was second to none as a father/dadaw, a world class back tickler, and a master in the kitchen.
Survivors include his daughters, Tammy (Tim Gibbons) Weicher and Tracie (Dick) Meyer both of Burlington; grandchildren, Leslie Peters, Chalie Meyer, Mariah Gibbons, and James Gibbons; two great-grandchildren, Tatum and Ryker Peters; sister, Patricia Gerhardt of West Burlington; and an Australian Shepherd, Emry Coffey.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and his cat, Sam Weicher.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services.
