Harold David Ferguson of Burlington, Iowa passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
He was the son of Robert and Lettie Mae Moyer Ferguson. Born November 16, 1934 in Keokuk, Iowa, he spent his younger years on the farm in Dallas City, Illinois area and his summers on his Grandparents Missouri farm.
He attended Dallas City Schools and graduated in 1953 from Dallas City Community High School. Shortly after high school, he entered the military and serves in the U.S. Air Force as an electrician on the B-36 bomber planes.
After the military, he attended meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio. Upon graduation, he worked in the Chicago area before moving to San Bernardino, California in 1960. While working for the Alpha Beta Grocery Store, he met the love of his life, a dark hair beauty by the name of Anita Serna. Anita was a Van de Camp hostess lady, who would travel to different stores stocking shelves with bakery products. They married in 1971 and shared a marriage of 48 years. Anita preceded Harold in death and passed away on January 5, 2020. Harold also worked for the Gerrard Market in Redlands, California for over 20 years.
Harold leaves behind his sisters, Gracie Venvertloh of Burlington, Iowa and Brenda Frederick of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; several step-children and grandchildren; nephews and a niece.
Preceding him in death his parents, wife, and brother, Bob Ferguson and infant brother, Bill Ferguson.
Harold shall always be remembered for his devotion to Anita, his gentleness and willingness to help others especially senior citizens.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Per his request, there will be no visitation or services. His ashes along with Anita's will be interned in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa.
