Harry F. Thompson

October 2, 1934 ~ August 6, 2018 (age 83)

Harry Thompson, 83, of Burlington, died at 1:05 AM Monday, August 6, 2018.

Harry F. Thompson was born October 2, 1934 in Burlington; the thirteenth child of fourteen born to Grover Cleveland and Catherine Burrows Thompson.

He was a Burlington High School graduate in the class of 1953.

He married Mary Jo Brenneke on February 14, 1954. Harry and Mary Jo were the parents of three children; Pamela, Jeffrey, and Rebecca. Harry and Mary Jo later divorced. 

He married Judy Young Estes on September 17, 1976 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They repeated their vows on October 13, 1976 in Burlington. Judy's daughter, Kim Diamond, adopted Harry as the father she'd always wanted. 

Harry worked for White House Dairy, Atlas Warehouse, drove a moving van for Allied Van Lines, and was a bus driver for Trailways Bus Lines. He retired in 1996. 

Harry enjoyed horse trading and fishing. He liked gaming on the computer and was a great pool player. 

Harry was preceded in death by his wife Judy on September 12, 2001; step-daughter Kim on June 24, 2006; his brothers: Richard, Dale, Kenneth, James, and 2 infant brothers, and sisters Virginia, Mary, Betty, Doris, Dorothy, and Helen. 

Surviving is his sister Patsy Schmeiser of Winfield and Mt. Pleasant; and two sister-in-laws, Shirley Thompson and Patty Thompson Curtis.

Also surviving are his daughters: Pamela Moore and Rebecca Thompson of Burlington; one son, Jeffrey (Deanna) Thompson of rural Wever; and his special companion Norma Tomey and her daughter, Barb Graham and grandson Jacob.

He is survived also by five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews. 

Per Harry's wishes cremation will be accorded and there will be no formal visitation or services at this time.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
