Born May 4, 1927, in Wakefield, MA, he was the son of Fred W. and Lucy Ells. On January 29, 1950, he married Mary E. Stephenson in Burlington. She died October 12, 2006.
Bill was an electrician for 39 years. He worked for Keith's Electric and later for J.D. Electric. He retired in 1991. After retirement he ran Bill's Small Appliance Repair.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving with the Seabees during World War II from 1944 until 1948.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Burlington Aerie 150, Burlington Gym, and I.B.E.W. He loved to watch MASH, Walker Texas Ranger, and John Wayne Movies. He also enjoyed playing pool, traveling, and collecting hats.
Survivors include two sons, Dan (Linda) Ells and Doug (Gloria) Ells both of Burlington; two daughters, Debi (Terry) Willson of Delmar, IA, and Dodie Ells of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Ells will be 10:30 AM Saturday, March 28, 2009, in the Chapel of the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Sparrow officiating.
As per Bill's request, his body will be cremated after the funeral.
